 K9 ~ Military Working Dogs

U.S. Veterans supporting
Active Military Dog Handlers
The Feed the Dawgs Project is a culmination of United States Military Vietnam Veterans, Active Duty Military Working Dog Personnel, and patriotic citizens joining together to support and recognize the dedication and patriotism of today's Military Working Dog Teams around the globe.  The United States Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines, and Navy deploy Military Working Dogs in many regions of the world in support of global peace and stability.  We feed steak barbecues to active military dog handlers in all branches of United States service as they return from or "ship out" for "deployment" to the front lines on the War on Terror.

 DRAFTED!

US Army Major Todd M. Thomas, DVM

In recognition of his dedication and career professionalism in the field of MWD Veterinary Medicine, Todd has succumbed to the demands of the "Committee" that he accept his status as "Doctor Dawg" for the Feed the Dawgs Project.

Todd Thomas was commissioned through Army ROTC, and his formal education includes undergraduate and veterinary school at Auburn University, internship at the Animal Medical Center in New York City, and Small Animal Surgery Residency at North Carolina State University.  He is a Board Certified Small Animal Surgeon.
His previous assignments include Chief of Animal Medicine in Panama, Commander of the 94th Medical Detachment (VM), Dog Center-OIC of Outpatient Services at the Medina Annex, and Deputy Commander for Clinical Services, South Texas District Veterinary Command.

During his first three years in California, he served as the Western Region MWD Consultant and Chief of the West Coast Branch Veterinary Services.  Through the first seven months of 2010 in California, he has focused on the MWD Mission at Camp Pendleton (75 MWDs at that time) as well as training and consulting.  He presently serves as the Great Plains Region MWD Consultant at Fort Sam Houston, Texas.  Todd's clinical and research interests include joint range of motion in MWDs, lumbosacral disease, minimally invasive surgery, and emergency surgical procedures.

We are absolutely honored to be graced with Todd's patriotism, his professionalism, and his passion for MWDs.  "Draftees" are selected for their unwavering professionalism, dedication to their Boots, and for their clear vision for the future of Dawg Heritage.  We are proud to include this fine American in the inner workings of the Feed the Dawgs Project.  There's Dawgs . . . then there's everybody else!

We are extremely saddened to report the passing of a very
fine American.

Pamela Murphy

Pamela Murphy, widow of WWII Hero, Audie Murphy, died peacefully at home on April 8, 2010.  She is known among Veterans for her distinctive 35-year career as a patient advocate at California's Sepulveda Veterans Administration Hospital.

Any Airman, Marine, Sailor, or Soldier who utilized the services at Sepulveda VA was guaranteed very special treatment from this Lady.  She is known for walking the hallways, clipboard in hand, making sure every veteran received the absolute best treatment possible.  We Old Dawgs have been graced and blessed ~ "may you take your own sweet time."

Frequently it seems that the affection and appreciation for a job well done goes both ways.

On behalf of the 355th Security Forces Squadron, DM's Kennel Master, TSgt Angel Landrau, presented this plaque to all of the Feed the Dawgs staff that make this project successful.  We are truly humbled

Thank you guys for doing what you do, and for doing it so well.  We're proud to stand with you for one fleeting moment in time.

The
Feed the Dawgs
Project

Your donations allow Dawg members and volunteers to provide active U.S. Military K9 personnel with recognition and appreciation for their service to the United States of America through the provision of barbecues at select U.S. Military bases, camps, ports, and forts - a very small "thank you" for their incredible service and dedication.

For more information,  or if you would like to donate to the project, or volunteer your time and effort towards the recognition and appreciation of our U.S. Military Working Dog Personnel, please respond to our "Contact Us" page.
